FAA Written Exam

Written Exam Preparation: One requirement to become a Private Pilot (and other ratings or certificates) is to pass an FAA Written Exam. We generally start a Private Pilot Ground School every 4 months or whenever we have 4 or more willing to begin. This ground school, which is totally optional (although most need this intense training), is designed to provide the knowledge and information necessary to pass the FAA required written exam. There is also discussion about the practical application of your flying skills so the benefits of this ground training do go beyond the academic needs.

The difficulty level of these exams are much like a sophomore college level course. It is possible for an individual to pass these courses without an organized ground school; but, let's face it, the flying portion of your training is the fun and interesting part and the textbook work is like most...requiring a lot of will power to study. Doing that in a group environment with a properly certificated flight instructor does help the learning process by keeping the motivation to complete the course at a high level. As mentioned above one also gets a lot of practical flight learning in the organized ground school environment as opposed to just the textbook information.
